Today is the day our family leaves to go back home. The goal was to leave at 10am. But luckily journeys like this always take longer to get off the ground, so we got a little more time in with them, since they didn’t actually leave until 11:30. Who knows how long it will be until we see them all again. We said our goodbyes, hugs and kisses and luckily not too many tears. We had said our goodbyes to our families before over there, but this time was a little different, since this time we were staying and they were leaving us. We got to see it from the point of view of the family over here. It was interesting.
Me being more of the chillona, it still probably hit me harder right after they left, and I needed to get myself together. Josue was fine and already moving right in to party mode, since the Tias had already invited us to go with them later to a party.
This weekend was a lot of baptisms, 1st communions, and confirmations, so there were going to be a lot of parties. We ended up going with the Tias down the street to the party they were going to which was nice, because we got a chance to spend some time with this particular branch of cousins from Josue’s mom’s side that we hadn’t really gotten a chance to spend time with yet. His cousin Genaro’s daughters had just gotten baptized and confirmed. And they had it set up to be quite a party, with a DJ and everything.
For dinner we ate carnitas, sopa and beans, with chiles manzanos pickled with nopales, carrots and cauliflower. Cousin Flor, was playing bartender serving up Cubas.
It was a good night… until something didn’t sit well. Not sure what it was, but it didn’t take long to feel sick.
I got it first, but Josue wasn’t too far behind me. We don’t really know what it was, pero algo nos hizo daƱo!
