Sunday. 12.5.10 - Saturday. 12.11.10

This was “the lost week”! We’ll spare you the details, but what ever made us sick lasted all week long! We stayed close to the bathroom and mostly in bed the first few days. I couldn’t eat anything, just the thought of food had a bad reaction with me. Josue not feeling well, still seemed to be able to eat anything and everything!
Tuesday Josue took me to the doctor, because on top of the rest I had developed a fever, which everybody was saying was some kind of infection. So I got some medicine and hopefully on the way to getting better.
Mostly everybody’s saying we got sick because of all the “grasa” from the carnitas, but then others, just say it could’ve been the sopa, if it was made with milk, who knows… but just the word “carnitas” gets my stomach in a knot anymore!
Wednesday we took the Abuelos to Ixtapan because they had some business to do over there, then we went to Grandma’s house afterwards to hang out. She made us lunch, and just because she’s such a great cook and it’s been days since I’ve eaten I thought I’d give it a try. She made albondigas y un te de guayaba. The albondigas were made with chicken meat, so didn’t feel too heavy. It all sat fine with me for a while and made me feel better. But that night, I had a relapse. It feels like this nauseaousness is never going to end!
Back to bed. The next day (Thursday) Josue had to take them back to Ixtapan again to finish up their paperwork, but I didn’t feel up to it today, so I stayed home. Right about now, Charlena has been showing signs of not feeling too well either. It seemed to take him a lot longer than I would’ve thought, and was starting to get worried. Sure enough, when he got home, he told me that she pooped out on him. Luckily it happened right at the street where you turn up to go to the Abuelos’ house. So he had to say goodbye to them from there and they had to walk home the rest of the way. Thank God, it was that close and not further away. Anyway, he walked down the street and met a mechanic that works on Bugs, and the guy gave him a hand to where he was able to get on the road again and get back home to me! Thank God!
After close to a week of being wiped out sick! Now we figured out how eating all this good food down here, will still find a way to let you lose weight! It’s not how we would’ve preferred but it’s definitely jumped started us on eating better and losing weight! We were just thankful to have a comfy place to stay with functioning plumbing!
Friday, we got a ride to Villa with a cousin, so we could go see if we could find a mechanic friend that we know from back home, because now Charlena won’t start at all. When we got there he wasn’t there, so we just walked up to the centro and did some grocery shopping, then walked home. It felt great to be out and about after mostly being layed up all week long! I’m finally able to eat, but very little, and it usually makes me feel nauseous after, but I can hold it down atleast!
Later that afternoon, Josue and his cousins started tackling a project of taking down a dead tree for leña (firewood) for the water heater. And with no major tools, like a chainsaw or even a regular saw, they put to work a rope and a bottle of water. They would lasso a branch and then pull with all their might, and began tearing down this tree limb by limb! How much fun can you have with a rope? This day - they took down a tree. Then, when a few big branches fell into an empty pozo near by, they used this same rope to lower a little cousin down in to it. So, that cousin, learned how to repel with a rope around his waist! Great job boys!
Saturday was just kind of a lazy day around the house, we can tell we’re still not feeling quite right. Everybody is getting ready for tomorrow, it’s the Virgen de Guadalupe’s birthday, and they sing “Las Mañanitas” to her early in the morning.
